Jin Shin Jyutsu stems from the “beginning of the universe” a truly timeless art. It concentrates on the harmony and harmonizes the energy within the body rather than on disharmony and problems.
It was rediscovered in the early 1900's by Master Jiro Murai, who, after recovering from a "terminal" illness, devoted himself to the revival of the Art for future generations. He believed that the capacity to use this Art is born in all of us, like our hands, the tools with which it is applied.
It is a physio-philosophy that involves the application of the hands for gently balancing the flow of life energy in the body; more generally, it is the awakening to awareness of complete harmony within the self and the Universe.
Master Jiro Murai
Master Jiro Murai of Japan, born before the turn of the century, rediscovered these principles when he fell terminally ill as a young mand in his twenties. Science could offer no cure so he asked to be taken to his family’s mountain cabin where he wished to be alone. He fasted and meditated and after 7 days of fevers and chill, he found himself completely cured. In awe and gratitude, he vowed to dedicate the rest of his life to the rediscovery of the Art and to leave his findings to the Ijmperial shrine “Ise Jingu”. This he did accomplish.
Mary Burmeister
A first generation American of Japanese parents, was guided to Master Murai in the 1940's and studied with him in person for five to six years. Upon her return to America she continued to study with him via correspondence until his death in 1960. She started sharing the art in the early 60’s teaching in America. In 1977 the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu was taken to West Germany. Since 1990 the art has been shared throughout the USA, Europe, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, India and Singapore.
The presenter : Carlyse Smyth
She is a Jin Shin Jyutsu 5-day class instructor. She often encountered this question – “How long have you studied Jin Shin Jyutsu?” - and she often heard saying simply “Jin Shin Jyutsu has been a part of my everyday life since 1980.”
As a student and practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu in the UK, she has been fully engaged in sharing awareness of the Art through talks, self-help classes and study groups. All are seen as opportunities to express the joy of life, movement, energy and a deep desire to live the philosophy and art of Jin Shin Jyutsu.
Born in Venezuela, she has followed her love of travel throughout her life, living in Venezuela, Texas, France, New York, London and Tokyo. After University, she worked in various industries for 30 years, integrating and expanding her awareness of Jin Shin Jyutsu into all facets of her life.
She lives and practices in London, England.
Jin Shin Jyutsu 5-Day Seminar (8th to 12th November 2013); Special Topic Class (15th to 16th November 2013)
The 5-day Seminar is for those who want to study and practice Jin Shin Jyutsu and to apply the Art on themselves and others, this being the testimony of this simple, profound Art of Living, made known to us by Mary Burmeister and Jiro Murai. Each basic text seminar consists of two parts:
Part I, the foundation, introduces the dynamic qualities of the 26 Safety Energy Locks, the Trinity Flows, the concepts of Depths within the body, and the Physio-philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu. Interspersed with lecture are ample periods of hands-on application.
Part II (prerequisite: Part I) introduces the 12 organ flows, listening to pulses, the Special Body Flows and how these contribute to harmonizing body, mind and spirit.
